Rough draft !!!  It’s an informative speech  , MUST use school database Northwestern college Chicago il oaklawn!!!!  Choose a current event that is important to you – and you think everyone should know about all of the different aspects of it.  Remember, you’ll need to restrict yourself to only cover material for 5-6 minutes, so you should choose a topic where you can complete an overview and three main points within that time.
You should have a clear thesis statement that is developed in the body of your speech with three main points. Your main points should be arranged in one of the informative designs covered in the textbook (at the top of your document, say which informative design you used and on which page you found it).
Your speech should reflect responsible, balanced knowledge of your topic, and should be as objective as possible. So, you’ll want to show the different points of view on the topic.  There is no need to take any sides.  In fact, you should not take sides – you’re trying to get all of the information to us.  For your three points, you’ll want to make sure you’re representing everyone – even the points of view with which you disagree.
Each main point must be supported with at least one source.  Your sources must come from a physical source at our library or one of our virtual library databases (you will find the link to the NC Library Databases in this week’s module resources).  Be sure to cite your source (you’ll need the author, the website, the organization, and the date).  Sources should be dated between 2015-2022 (nothing older!).
Think of this speech like an essay… except that you’re eventually going to read it out loud.
– Followed textbook Format and gave page number and indicated model outline
The word count for this outline excludes external sources and your references/bibliography.
Please do not take more than 1-2 lines from a source as those words do not count toward your total – our goal is to organize the information.
– Have three citations from library or library databases for your main points
Five different citations / different sources  – sources should be dated between 2015-2022 (nothing older!) – cite them at the end in a works cited page – but be sure to actually write them into the speech – don’t use more than a sentence or two for each source quote/paraphrase – I need to see your ideas on what you researched – not just source’s writing

This is a formal essay. Formal essays are always the opinion of the writer but the trick is to state his or her opinion without ever using I. The essay is based on Frankenstein: Or, the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley (1831 version) The paper must be at least 500-600 words (without front page) and should include:1.    a title page-with the title, your own or that of the book, your name and class. 2.    an introduction (ending with a thesis statement). 3.    main text (at least 3 arguments with clear examples from the novel) 4.    conclusion    Introduction should include a thesis statement as the last sentence. All paragraph breaks are the same and there is no extra break between the introduction and the main text or the main text and the conclusion. The main text is always more than one paragraph (3 in this instance). Each argument is one paragraph. Be organized and make sure each paragraph has a valid point, not a few points all over the place. Each paragraph should focus on one aspect of your argument. Therefore, it will make sense!

REMEMBER:
Student must discuss the following points in reaction papers (in ESSAY FORMAT; not numbered questions):
1. One paragraph summary (at least 3-4 sentences) of what documentary film/movie was about and if there was any bias (This means: is the film presented from a particular biased standpoint?  Or does the film present a balanced viewpoint, showing all opposing sides?).
2. How does this documentary film/movie connect or relate to OUR CLASS TOPICS AND DISCUSSIONS as well as to your personal life? (This is very important!  Make strong, specific class connections.  If you state, “The film is about addiction and the class is about addiction,” that is NOT a strong, specific connection, and you will not get full credit. Gives lots of details!  Refer to the eText and other sources we’ve been discussing!).
3. What did you learn in this documentary film/movie in relation to ideas we have covered in class?  (State something NEW you learned about the topic from the documentary).
4. What was your reaction and opinion of the documentary film/movie, and would you recommend it to future classes? (This is where you provide your critique of the film. Explain WHAT makes it recommendable or not; Explain WHY you think it’s a good–or bad–film).
